Bug Description

I'm using a Virtualbox VM as a local dev LAMP stack. When I create a new file in the shared folder on my host OS the file permissions on the guest OS are "weird". They're all question marks and red (ls -al). I also can't stat the file.

When searching in the Virtualbox bug tracker I found this upstream bug:
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/9887

I now upgraded to Virtualbox 4.1.17 and the bug is indeed solved in that version.

Using Ubuntu's Virtualbox (4.1.12) with the newest Guest Additions iso (4.1.17) also resolves this issue.

Yeah, I wasn't really complete: Host OS: Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop / Virtualbox 4.1.12
Guest OS: Ubuntu 12.04 server / jeos
