Bug Description

Can we have widgets fade into the background, only to fade in when hovered over?

It might be a wishlist thing, because I don't know the exact use case yet.. but here is an example

I use folder view to display my home folder. I don't need it to display all of the time. I know where I could hover though if I needed it!

It might also be nice to remove desktop icons, and set up one of these folder views to replace that functionality.

This could be a configurable option.. good for people that like minimalism and clean displays.

I think that there is no point implementing that because you will not save
any space on desktop, it will just be hidden.

The intention is not to save space, but to be able to reduce clutter.

Here is a use case that I thought of. I have a bunch of informational screenlets - such as network bandwidth, a terminal screenlet showing the top processes, another terminal screenlet showing open network connections. These are things I use frequently enough, that I would love to be able to gesture over part of the desktop to have that information simply 'appear'

And then go away and not distract me when I am done.

It also could be something else like

Hover Opactiy
Fade Opacity
Duration

Then for folks that want to keep it visible but dim it, that would be an option too
