Bug Description

CTL-ALT-arrow no longer works to switch workspaces.
Now I have to do the much more inconvenient [WindowsKey]-S and then arrow to the workspace I want. And THEN hit the Return key.
It's not a good trade.
When users often have multiple windows open and switch back and forth among them, the time is significant. You've changed one step to three, and it's a step users don't want to have to think about, and may perform (as I do) every ten seconds or so.
CTL-ALT-Shift also no longer works to move an open program among workspaces.

thanks for the bug report. Can you please mention when did the issue actully started for you? was it right after you install Quantal or an update caused it? Is the issue also happening on the live session of Quantal?

This became a problem only on my 32-bit partition after updates of 6-6 or 6-7.
I have a 64-bit partition and that seems to be unaffected.
Could it be possible that the lack of functionality is caused by either a bad upgrade or something that I did?

Susan, there are a few simple things to check:

1. Ensure the window you have focussed does not grab all keystrokes (like VirtualBox or VMware).

2. Ensure the Ctrl+Alt+Arrow key bindings are still configured:
  (a) Run: ccsm
  (b) Go to Desktop > Desktop Wall > Bindings
  (c) Ensure "Move Left" and "Move Right" have key bindings configured still.

or you could just try unity --reset and see how it goes ;-)

Oh, wow.
Everything worked.
Thanks so much.
CCSM is great. Recommend it be installed by default.
