Wacom Penpartner in Ubuntu 12.04 has no pressure sensitivity and no eraser function

Wacom Penpartner (Model CT-4505-U) is connected via USB (and recognised in lsusb command), but has very limited functionality:
No pressure sensitvity available and no eraser functions. The side button functions of the pen are also not available.

After connecting this Wacom tablet, Ubuntu 12.04 immediatly picks up this tablet and it´s pen movements, but for graphical purposes the tablet is almost completely useless due to very restricted functionality.

Discovered that installing Mypaint (in Ubuntu software) is very helpfull: after that the penpartner can be used fully functional.
Only in Gimp there are still problems: the eraser does nog work here and the side buttons behave unexpected.

Peterbeter: Which version of GIMP have you used for this report? Was it GIMP 2.6 or GIMP 2.8? Are you still using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS? Thank you for telling us!

I am still using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Voyager version) and (now) Gimp 2.8.
But I do not use Penpartner anymore due to incompatibility and/or rather
restricted possibilities.
