And Firefox currently not build from powerpc, see bug 987421, so neither Firefox or Chromium are available on powerpc.

Firefox was available in 12.04, is there a way to carry it forward?

I can confirm the bug on my G4. However, I have installed FireFox 11.0 to the live session and it appears to be running okay. I am presently testing an install along side and when it completes I will attempt to install firefox to the Lubuntu 12.10 powerpc

A work-around is to install Firefox manually. This works for both the Live CD and a fully installed system.

Do you need to enable one of the Precise repos to do this?

Firefox is present in the default Quantal repositories, nothing needs to be changed. It's just that it is missing from the default Live CD and default installation.

This is also present in the Alpha2 series, at least in the 27 June edition. Lacking a browser makes it impossible to use the apport-bug tool.
