Bug Description

When I enter in my session, empathy starts the messenger session but the status icon of gnome-shell remains showing the offline icon (see attached screenshot).
If I press the option "Disponible" (Available) in menu and I close the menu, it updates the status icon of gnome-shell.

Simply starting empathy with 'empathy -h' didn't work for me. I didn't try making it autostart. FWIW, this is an upgrade from Karmic via Lucid.

I experience the same odd behaviour as Julien Olivier posted on bugzilla. Not a question of life and death, though quite annoying IMHO.
