Cannot use proxy servers downloading flashplugin

I have the same problem, but only if update-notifier-common is run by cron. If I call it from the command line, than the package download works. The problem seems to be that when run from cron the http_proxy environment variable is not detected by package-data-downloader. I have set my proxy in /etc/environment.
