Bug Description

I cannot Update/upgrade Ubuntu in any way, and I also can't install ppa-purge to remove to wayward apps.

This is the error msg that I receive:

''Could not initialise the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package information.

Please report this bug for the 'update-manager' package and try to include the following error message:

'E:Type ‘t/jcfp/ppa/ubuntu’ is not known on line 3 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jcfp-ppa-maverick.list'''

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi Dave

Thanks for responding so quickly!  I'm still a relative newb with ubuntu, so I deferred the upgrade for quite long because I just got use to the layout of the GUI.  Now when I'm ready to upgrade, I can't!  I have tried everything (to my knowledge), and done exhaustive searches on forums and such.

I have posted the contents of the file to the post, so I hope that helps!

Cheers
-Sarel

Which version of Ubuntu are you running? The following command will tell you if you're unsure:
lsb_release -a

You either need to delete the problematic line, or fix it if you still want to use sabnzbdplus. The line should not be:
t/jcfp/ppa/ubuntu natty main # disabled on upgrade to natty
but rather:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/jcfp/ppa/ubuntu natty main # disabled on upgrade to natty

You can edit the file with this command:
gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jcfp-ppa-maverick.list

And when you're finished, run:
sudo apt-get update

Changed in apt (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → New
yurikoles (yurikoles)
Changed in apt (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
