Pack repositories do not store line origins for texts like knits did, so annotation time scales with history. This needs a cache built and a pack format bump to use it. Ideally annotation caching will be optional so projects that benefit from the speed of commit without annotation calculations can do so, while the default can be to operate in annotated form.
