Comment 1 for bug 883774

Rather than setting the controls in one place and displaying them in another, I've turned the prefs dialog as-was into a first-class Window. Setting a control there has an immediate effect on the application; prefs are committed on quit.

The window also sports a Defaults button, with the obvious effect.
