Sounds like database corruption. Could you move ~/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db
somewhere else and restart Banshee? This will cause Banshee to start with an
empty library, so you'll have to reimport your collection.

If the issue is fixed by doing this, please upload the corrupted banshee.db file
for analysis so we can figure out what went wrong.
