It looks like it could be a problem with EXA acceleration. I would try disabling it.
You would place the following line in the Device section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf Option "NoAccel" "true"
Example xorg.conf:

Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection
Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" EndSection
