This problem persists in Kubuntu Feisty Fawn Herd 5. Using the included xserver-xorg-video-i810 driver (version 1.7.4-1). Xine video driver auto/xv will play the washed out video (horrible color/Gamma) and I still have to manually change the video driver to Xshm to view video properly.

Hopefully this will be fixed for Feisty Fawn Final :)
