I also have this bug, spec - amilo pro v2000 with intel 855gm, running xubuntu edgy.

Conn: How do you mean I can use "xvattr -a XV_CONTRAST" to monitor the value used by totem?

I think this bug is quite annoying, as vlc doesn't work on my external display in fullscreen mode using xinerama.
