Hi MacAdam,
yes, the the "l" was missing in the link. Patch is for the driver so not depending on the player software.
At least the issues I suffered here was not showing up with some player because these players doesn't adjust the xv attributes. The defaults value provided by the X driver was OK, so no issue there.
Just totem does has this settings and "tries" to set to "neutral" when started (50%), but the intel driver uses this parameter differently.
I changed "i830_video.c" file that is e.g. used with my "i965" chip. I hope this helps everybody having a similar chip. I tested smplayer and totem-gstreamer here, but I don't have any issues with these programs (any more).
