Ubuntu and gnome have a "Just Works TM" philosophy in everything and this seems like a no brainer win-win fix. The samba package is not installed nor are any file shares enabled by default. Comitting this small change would allow samba to work easily without frustrating newbies and clogging up the IRC channel.
