I think this bug is coused by missing MIDI instruments in freepats package.
There is more complete MIDI patterns package - eawpatches, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Midi/SoftwareSynthesisHowTo
I will add this package to Recommends field of baltix-multimedia metapackage
