Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1886295

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Hi Chris,

Thanks the launchpad site didnt let me say that package name I tried
software but it was telling me that didnt exist.

I ran

apport-collect 1886295

and my pc said no information collected.

the prob happens when gdebi is calling software.

gdebi works fine in terminal though.

hope that helps.

Sorry for the lack of info.

Stephen, there is no package called 'software' but one called gnome-software which is provided by default in all GNOME based distributions and one called ubuntu-software which is a transitional package in later Ubuntu releases.

The default software store in Ubuntu 20.04 is actually a snap called snap-store which should appear in program menus as 'Software'. I think that is what you are probably using in which this case this bug report needs to be moved to the 'snap-store-desktop' project.

I've seen this problem myself when using a non-default theme in Xubuntu. Are you using a non-default theme in Ubuntu? If so, does the problem go away when using the default Yaru theme?

Changed in ubuntu:
status: New → Incomplete

Sorry forgot to say that by issuing the following command in a terminal:

  apt policy gnome-software

and

  snap info snap-store

will confirm which applications are being used.

Hello,

the prob exists in the software icon in my taskbar.

I actually use a mac them on gnome that comes as the default.

So the prob would be the *deb file when double click opens the
snap-store* which cant install a deb file. ok im clear sorry for the
confusion.

let me know if i can be of any more help.

Thanks for your prompt response. I'm pretty sure that this is related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snap-store-desktop/+bug/1867417
which is showing as fixed but subsequent comments suggest that an issue exists for anyone that
might not be using themes that are not included in the gtk-common-themes snap.

I'm reassigning this to the snap-store-desktop project to bring your issue to the attention of the Snap Store developers.

Hey,

Thank you for looking into this, heres a screenshot of the theme i use

I found the workaround is to install your deb file using gdebi by cli.

Also affected by this issue on Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon with its default theme. Attached screenshot illustrates the issue. The last time I used snap-store was last month but the background was not transparent. Only opened the snap-store this week to install a snap package and noted that the background was transparent
