As I said it appears that the snapshot is complete, the only thing I have to go on is the activity light on the HD and the fact that it is still blinking after the snapshot is complete.

It may be that the kernel will hold-off shutdown until the drive is done, in which case my slow human eyes would not be able to tell the difference in the light.

If the kernel takes care of this please let me know. I just don't want to get burned by missing files if I ever have to restore so in the mean time I will only run the backup when I an present to shut down the computer.
