Bug Description
When you have several windows of the same application, clicking on its launcher icon displays them all so as to pick up the one we want.
The problem is when you only have two windows of the same application and that you're already focused on one of them, it should automatically switch to the second one instead of displaying the windows spread thing.

You're totally right.
My request is only relevant when there are ONLY two windows. When there are more, the current system is perfect (imho).

I copy my comment from bug #740862 here because I agree with this proposal and that some improvement is needed for this:
Sometimes the exposé view is totally unnecessary. For example if you have two small skype windows open and they don't even overlap each other it would be better if clicking on the launcher would just bring both windows on top.
And I think it would be better to be able to cycle through multiple instances of the same application just by clicking on the launcher. It would be also faster because the exposé view is slow.
The exposé view is only useful if the are many instances of the same application.

It would be nice to be able to switch/cycle through instances with keyboard only (similar to Alt-Tab, but this app only)
Matt Giuca (mgiuca) wrote : | #5 |
@kkivi There is an apparently undocumented feature to do that. Alt+` cycles through the windows of the current application.

I believe there are improvements to the current behavior planned but what you requested does not seem like a realistic solution to me for the situations when there are more than 2 windows associated with the same launcher.
