I don't know about anyone else, but I've resorted to just using notification-daemon again. I can't stand notify-osd. Even though using notification-daemon solves my problem, there is no reason why I should have to use it anyway. I liked the look of the new notifications. But I use Pidgin a lot, and notify-osd only shows one notification from a program at a time. If I could dismiss notifications, it wouldn't be a problem. However, I can't.

The developers want the notifications to be passive and ephemeral, but they have to realize that some notifications are not meant to be passive. We are also being repeatedly told that notifications are going to support varied times, but it's been a year since notify-osd was first introduced, and this feature still hasn't been implemented. Does anyone have an answer for that?
