Bug Description

I am using;
ubuntu karmic (9.10)
I installed using the awn testing ppa from launchpad.
Using Avant Window Navigator 0.3.9-rewrite-bzr1802-karmic1-1
Compiz
nvidia Geforce 8400m gs i am using nvidia 185 driver.
using gnome 2.28.1

When I have "select windows when mouse moves over them" it is not possible to use the group common windows dialogue box. Every time i click it and then go to move onto the dialogue box it disappears. It is fine if I remove that setting. I think there should be an invisible box that means that the window can't be selected when the mouse moves between the icon and the dialogue box.

This bug prevents me from using AWN. I had to switch to another dock.

Has there been any activity on this ticket? I see this behavior when the focus follows the mouse. Would it be possible to have the dialog be a square instead of a dialog bubble that way there is no gap between the dock and the dialog, then the window below it would never get focus.

It doesn't seem to affect *all* AWN applets that use the "callout"-style menu in place of a GTK one. There's a delay between the point at which the applet's menu loses focus and the point at which that menu closes, and that delay does not seem to be universal. If it could simply be extended to, say, .5s, it would seem to resolve the problem without requiring any aesthetic changes.

Not sure what you're talking about. Delay is set via Gnome in Preferences > Windows > set "Interval before raising". However, I can reproduce it for taskmanager, the dialog always seems to close immediately before I get a chance to get my mouse cursor to the dialog.

onox, the 'setting' he is meaning is internal of AWN, not Gnome. The setting you mentioned affects the delay of usual windows before they get raised, in combination with the autofocus on mouseover ("Select windows when the mouse moves over them"). Setting the latter is enough to trigger the bug.
