window list is inacessible if change focus on mouseover is enabled

I'm using Ubuntu linux 10.10 with standard packages from the distribution and guessing that this is a long standing issue following the addition of the window list that appears when there are multiple windows for a dock item. If the Gnome window option is set to change focus on mouseover, there is no way to move between the dock and it's window list without loosing focus, unless there are no windows underneath the space between the dock and the window list. This seems more like a design issue and an "undocumented feature" than a bug, but something that would improve the functionality if it were addressed. The widow list is unusable with this common Linux window manager setting enabled.
