If you want a projectile affect air, then detonate it in air. See http://modenc.renegadeprojects.com/CellSpread#Reality

By using ProjectileRange=0 and Ranged with a dummy SHP projectile, you can make fake areafire weapons which *can* affect air.

Either way, there is no bug here. AA=yes doesn't matter if you use AreaFire=yes.
