This looks like the issue the chronosphere had when teleporting iron-curtained units. The game destroyed the units on a cell and just allowed the incoming unit survive, except when any unit on the cell was iron-curtained, in which case the incoming unit was destroyed. Because the incoming unit also counts as "unit on the cell", it eventually crushed itself when iron-curtained.
