I believe I have the same bug. I am running Xubuntu 9.04 on a Malata PC-81006. "xinput list" lists a "ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse" but no touchpad. "lshal | grep synaptics" results in nothing. Copying and adding parameters to enable scrolling to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi .does not result in any change.
The touchpad works as a mouse, but lacks scrolling and other features.
I have all the necessary output if needed.
