I can confirm that by installing kernel 3.3.8 from

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.3.8-quantal/

suspend works fine every time, as do the brightness Fn keys (they stop working after a single suspend in future kernel versions).

What can I do to help eliminate this regression?
