Bug Description

There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks. Please report this error at http://launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+filebug and retry.
The above is a quote of the error I received when I tried to install qtsixa. It's labeled as one of two apps to allow use of the Sony Playstation 3 Sixaxis controller in Ubuntu.
It might be a version conflict since I'm using Maverick and this package (together) is labeled for Karmic.

After trying to run Synaptic it also gives me this error.
Failed to run /usr/sbin/synaptic as user root.

Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file.

Before someone suggest that it's probably because I have another packet installer open.
 I don't. I closed them.
Will try to relog in and maybe that will fix it.

I was able to fix it by booting into the recovery option at boot. Then fixing broken packages.
Once I was able to log into Ubuntu. I ran terminal commands to completely uninstall qtsixa and related packages.
I also found an alternate source for qtsixa and reinstalled from there.
Sixaxis functionality is working fine now wired and wireless. No errors to report now.

I have a problem with my broadcomm wireless so I used the
ubuntu software centre on the install usb to try solve it.
I first tried to install bcmwl but it said the dependency was dkms
I installed dkms without problem
but when I again tried to install bcmwl I got the aptdaemon error after a few seconds.

dkms = dynamic kernel management
bcmwl = broadcomm wireless

That's odd saor9. Any luck with the ubuntu irc channel?
I have broadcomm wireless as well. But once the hardware was installed. Everything was fine.
Perhaps you could try letting the system janitor app go at it? Then reinstall qtsixa?

My problem is only the installation of broadcomm wireless which causes the aptdaemon error message. I am not trying to install qtsixa. Perhaps I should report as a different bug?
I newly installed ubuntu 10.10 and as happened with previous installs the broadcom wireless doesnt work. I have previously been able to fix this problem with info and download from the broadcomm website but so far I havent been able to find the correct info for ubuntu 10.10. Some of the links to broadcomm no longer work.
The solution of putting the required packet as an option on the install cd is perfect, if it works. Other solutions that required internet access through ubuntu obviously are impossible.

I've got my wireless working, but aptdaemon error still exists.
This link provides the solution for broadcom wireless in ubuntu 10.10. It can be download with windows and copied to ubuntu.
