Bug Description

While installing Google Chrome from a .deb file I got this error;

"There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks. Please report this error at http://launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+filebug and retry."

Retrying did not fix the problem, closing Ubuntu Software Center and retrying did not fix the problem, and restarting the computer and retrying did not fix the problem.

I get the same error trying to install synergy-plus. I've installed other packages (including Chrome, BTW) without trouble, but synergy-plus so far is not working.

Thanks, and good luck.

#6 is spot-on with mine. this happened while I was installing overnight and had to restart to get the mouse and keyboard working(irrelevant, take not of restart maybe during install?). Also had another error: couldn't install a application(Celestia) again after I tried and canceled it. Hope this helps, wish I wasn't such a noob with this. ta

Attempted to install Google Chrome after installing updates on a new install of 10.10. I went to download Chrome from Google's website and it opened Ubuntu Software Center. It was listed as "waiting" while the system updates were downloading/installing. When they finished, this error with the listed traceback occurred. Don't if it it's relevant, but I also downloaded and installed latest ATI driver driver at the same time.
