Yes specifically for me it's the leading letter I have a domain name that begins with a number that fails the check. Allowing setting the regex would certainly solve the problem for me. I imagine the existing regex would be a problem e.g. for internationalised domains names as well which presumably should still be allowed certificates so making it configurable might not be a bad idea.
