I have a problem with HDMI audio on Haswell integrated video that may be related as described in this PulseAudio bug report:

If I have "intel_iommu=on" on the kernel command line without adding "igfx_off", the HDMI audio works, but with significant timing problems. When playing a video, either the audio and video quickly start to drift out of sync, up to a few seconds off, or (in VLC's case) it starts having audio dropouts and complaining like this:
