I am sorry, but as you made modifications - not used our patch as it was, you have missed the part which correctly finds setting for account with company's default currency.

So now there is again problem when journal does not state currency (remember this field is not required - if not set in all parts of accounting it is considered that it is company's default) and you import default currency statement, the settings object is not being found at all, so it is not possible import the statement at all.
