Comment 36 for bug 38442

I installed 6.10 last spring and had the same problem, on a Toshiba Tecra 8000. I am new at Linux but otherwise experienced at computers but it took 3 weeks of nightly messing around to get past this problem so I could actually see what I was doing and finish the install.

Hope the problem gets fixed as I don't want to upgrade until I know that I won't be faced by that again.
