Okay, I just did some checking around, and got an idea from <a href="http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-559350.html">here</a>, but it doesn't exactly solve our problem here.

I just realized that DRI is only on display 0.0 from that thread, and doing 'DISPLAY=:0 glxgears' allows it to run just fine without anything crashing, and 'DISPLAY=:0.0 glxinfo' actually shows DRI as running. I've attached the output for that.

Hopefully this will lead us to a solution!
