From what I read, the i386 ISOs can generally be installed without problems. I have also tried and can confirm that I can get to the "Debian GNU/Linux installer boot menu" using a CD with
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso
on it without problems on my Macbook.
