AFAICT this patch is no longer required for Inkscape 0.48.4 and current trunk, since the fix for bug #695120 (combined with the later fix for bug #1022719) already does that (make sure that the relative path from the command line argument is expanded to an absolute path before being passed to the extension script).

@JazzyNico - could you test current stable (0.48.4) and trunk, and review the patch from comment #2 if it is still necessary?
