Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1444179/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Today I grabbed the 15.04 server daily from 4/16. I installed linux-virtual, linux-tools-virtual, and linux-cloud-tools-virtual and after booting verified that hid_hyperv and hyperv_fb were present. I will update the documentation on TechNet to ensure users know to install these packages on new VMs. I am assuming that user of the certified image on Azure will not require this manual step because they are not going to grab the ISO to install a VM.

Hello,

If -virtual sits on top of the -generic kernel, then with kernel 3.13.0-54-generic I do see the hid_hyperv and hyperv_fb drivers loaded on the system.
Is that kernel version correct for this patch?

Joshua R. Poulson (jrp) wrote :

@cvalean Yes, the latest release linux-image-virtual is 3.13.0-53 and the one in proposed is 3.13.0-54. "-virtual" is a form of transitional package that pulls in the generic kernel, but there is a difference in kernel modules loaded. Looks like you had some older kernels (3.13.0-32 and 3.13.0-45) which you can revert to in grub.
