Bug Description

I logged into my server, I was greeted with this message:

"""
Your current Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) is going out of support
on 08/07/14. After this date security updates for critical parts (kernel
and graphics stack) of your system will no longer be available.

For more information, please see:
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/1204_HWE_EOL

To upgrade to a supported (or longer supported) configuration:

* Upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS by running:
sudo do-release-upgrade

OR

* Install a newer HWE version by running:
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-trusty linux-image-generic-lts-trusty

and reboot your system.
"""

Now, that is no problem, so I ran:
  % sudo do-release-upgrade
and got this message:
"""
Checking for a new Ubuntu release
No new release found
"""

Thanks for the report. You're right, do-release-upgrade to 14.04 will not be enabled until the 14.04.1 point release comes out, this coming Thursday.

I'm not sure there's anything we'll do with this bug other than just wait for 14.04.1 to come out, but I'm assigning to Michael Vogt in case he has any bright ideas about something else we might do here.

The 14.04.1 release has now been made (visible on releases.ubuntu.com), but do-release-upgrade is still not showing an upgrade path.

The update is not offered to you because http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts wasn't updated yet.

According to the release announcement "Users of Ubuntu 12.04 will soon be offered an automatic upgrade to 14.04.1 via Update Manager.", see https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-announce/2014-July/000188.html

I also have this issue, 'do-release-upgrade' states there is no available upgrades, as 'dasjoe' stated - the changelog page has not been updated yet.

When are we expecting this to be updated? I thought 7/24 was when we were to expect the release of 14.04.1.

Hi Brian, any chance of someone correcting the release notes as requested in bug #1351826? Not sure I really agree with that being a true duplicate because I think something should be mentioned about bug #1347721 which is solely a Saucy -> Trusty issue.
