Try Xubuntu does not auto login and when you do the wrong language is selected by default

What happened: When I start the Xubuntu 13.10 i386 LiveCD I directly land into the desktop of Xfce. If I log out and log back in by entering username as xubuntu and leaving the password field blank at the login screen, I get "Bangla - Bangladesh" as the user interface language!

What should happen: If a user doesn't change any language option while logging in the first time, they should get English as the default language.

Gunnar, no, obviously not. That is whole point of reporting this bug. Otherwise why would I file this bug?

The login screen selected the wrong language automatically by default.

If the user does not specify preference to any language, why should the LiveCD present its interface in "Bangla - Bangladesh" language instead of English?

It's your assumption that English is always the correct default language that made me ask.

Even if I'm not sure of how the LiveCD works exactly, if you actually install Xubuntu, and select e.g. Bangla (Bangladesh) as the language during the installation process, Bangla (Bangladesh) will be the system language as saved in /etc/default/locale, and the system language serves as the default language for new users.

So what I meant to ask was if you selected the language Bangla (Bangladesh) in connection with starting the LiveCD session. Can you please let us know the contents of /etc/default/locale ?

No, I did not install Xubuntu. I am talking about the liveCD experience itself.

Anyway, this seems to be an installer issue rather than something that affects lightdm. I suppose that "xubuntu" is a special purpose user for demo purposes. Possibly it's something with that user that prevents accountsservice from providing the correct default language. I can't tell if it's a Xubuntu specific problem or if it's inherited from the Ubuntu image. Changing affected packages.

Now, in Trusty, if i choose "Try Xubuntu without install" grub option the system does not go direct to desktop, it goes to login, then I go to desktop, with bangladesh language.

I'm seeing the same thing as sergio-br2. I definitely chose English as the language on bootup.
