For Lubuntu, the username seems to be "lubuntu", no password.
After logging in, no desktop is displayed.
For Xubuntu, the username seems to be "xubuntu", no password.
After logging in the menus are partly in a Middle Eastern or Asian language and partly in English even though English was selected at the main menu.

Not sure which package this should be - possibly different for Xubuntu and Lubuntu - but it should be reported against the package(s) themselves - not the testcase.

This bug was fixed in the package lubuntu-
---------------
lubuntu-
* debian/20-* & debian/*.postrm & debian/*.postinst &
debian/
- Use lightdm conf files to set default session (LP: #1259525).
* debian/control:
- Make lightdm requirement to >= 1.9.4 for the conf files mechanism.
* debian/rules:
- Correctly use dh_install.
* debian/
- Remove non-existent files.

I tried the Ubuntu Kylin daily ISO(12.18.1), it works well in VirtualBox, but failed to start in physical machine using live USB.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I am seeing this bug in Xubuntu daily 64bit and 32bit ISO for 18 Dec and 19 Dec 2013.
The files are booted direct from ISO files using grub-2 which I manually installed to a USB flash drive, and which works without fault to boot the system. I get to a login screen very quickly and using the 32bit ISO the system will login to a live session on a 32 bit netbook machine using xubuntu as username and leaving password blank.
I can not, however, get further than the login screen if I use the 32bit ISO on my 64bit desktop machine which boots using UEFI. The 64bit ISO will work OK on that machine and boot to a live session if I use username xubuntu and leave password blank.

It is getting hard to squash this bug.

the problem we face this time is different. there's a spare slash in user-setup that's causing this problem globally (https:/
please don't comment on this bug unless you're certain it is exactly the same as before. one simple test would be to see if it affects ubuntu proper. if it does (this one does), it's unlikely the same problem. additionally, if this bug re-occured, it would be due to some sort of regression, which really should call for a new bug.
thank you!
