I postponed this bug because it is not a bug, it is a performance enhancement. Therefore, it is not high priority for Zorba 2.0.

With the merge of branch lp:~zorba-coders/zorba/ft-base64Binary, there exists a much more efficient implementation of the xs:base64Binary type. It allows base64 items to be streamed and no unnecessary encoding is done.

However, the implementation of the Base64 class is still very inefficient. One solution to improve this is to create a base64 en- and decoding stream buffer.
