Bug Description

I'm running Brendan's 0.49 release of Zim for Windows. I have tried multiple times to set a default notebook, but it does not remember it.

Nothing of interest in the zim.log (in per user directory) or zim.exe.log (in Program Files). -D option doesn't seem to do anything on Windows.

Regards,
Mike

Just noticed. It does save the preference, it just doesn't act on it:

notebooks.list:

[NotebookList]
Default=file:///C:/Users/xxx/Notes
file:///C:/Users/xxx/Notes

sounds familiar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/zim/+bug/663888, where the
same behavior was discovered with 0.48, but not when running from source not
with revision 317.

Unfortunately (no, not really) I am no longer using windows at work. So I
can't give it another try, but maybe someone else can verify, it this
bug also occurs, when running from source.

I can confirm this issue when using the installer. However when I use the source version of 0.49 everything works as expected. No clue how this can be - assuming they contain the exact same code for the relevant modules. Can't debug any further at the moment, since I lack a way to introspect what the executable is doing.

I confirm I see the same behavior reported above -- setting is written to Notebooks list file but not acted on when next opening the Open dialog. I probably won't be able to fix this for 0.50 but maybe for the next version after that.

WORKAROUND: Create shortcuts pointing to each [Notebook Root Folder]/notebook.zim and launch Zim from those shortcuts.

This behavior can be also explained by the behavior seen in bug #789482, bundling as a duplicate with bug #783811.
