Bug Description

zim 0.62 as installed from source under linux. About dialog reports 0.60(??)

The sorting of tasks per date or urgency of the task list plugin does not do what I would expect.
I put on filebin (http://filebin.ca/1yPrAZsq1uoN/example_notebook.zim) an example of notebook which does not sort properly, at least in my view...

The highest ranking urgency never comes on top and the date sorting shows no effect whatsoever.

I guess this has to do with pages/subpages and nested task lists, but this behaviour makes the system unuseable to me.

Can you add a screenshot of the behavior you describe? Thanks.

Sorry for my slow reaction...
Here are 3 pics showing the full structure of a notebook with both types of sorting problems.

In the priority sorting (priority.png): the task list is not sorted at all.
In the date sorting, date_down might appear to be sorted but tasks with no dates appear in between tasks with due date.
This is a real problem when long task lists are reviewed, it is easy to miss a dated issue sitting at the very bottom of the list.
Moreover the date_up sorting delivers the exact same sorting....

I would expect that a sorting against a key first lists the items which have that key (priority or due date), followed by all orthers.

It seems to me that the sorting conflicts somehow with the tree structure of the notebook. But when I use these keys I would expect them to have a higher priority than the tree structure for sorting.

I have been using vim since 2 years now and love it. I am now starting to use it for "Getting Things Done" and the sorted due date is crucial...
Thanks a bunch for your efforts !

cheers

Hi Jean-Francois,

My apologies for not getting back to you earlier.

Looking at the screenshots, I understand why you feel sorting does not
work. However the behavior is what I would expect.

The reason is not that tasks are on multiple pages, but the nesting of
tasks within a page. When you want to use sub-tasks like this, first the
main tasks are sorted, then the sub tasks per main task.

If you want to go GTD, you should either use a flat list of tasks (so no
sub-tasks), or you should give the parent tasks a priority and due date,
and use sub-tasks just to specify in between steps.

Regards,

Jaap
