Maybe you can check your %TMP% folder for zim.log and zim-daemon.log files.
THese should contain further error messages to help debug the issue.

The files (one empty) are attached.

Last not least. A big Thank you for your work on Zim. I just found it and
really love the concept to use simple wiki-text files and a folder based
structure. My main wish would be a (even if limited) Android version to
check and edit some notes and lists :-) Looking forward to see if Zimdroid
will get major.
