Bug Description
the GUI currently translates a relative path entered as document root into an absolute path,
which is then stored in the notebook.zim file.
When sharing a notebook via a version control software,
the notebook ends up in a different working directory,
so the absolute path will usually be wrong.
Setting the document root to a relative path in the notebook.zim file works just fine,
so this is just an issue of the Zim turning the path into an absolute path when changing the path via GUI.
Please remove this automatic changing of the path.
(or make it by default a relative path)
(I used a relative path of ../.. entered into notebook.zim via an editor with success on linux)

Believe this is working in the current version, saving properties makes path relative, parsing config resolves it relative again.
