Bug Description

On System start, i see the xsplash screen (brown), hear the GDM sound but xsplash stays in foreground (for around 2 Minutes). After that all works fine.

I had enabled "Auto-Login" (works fine), but disabled it. After that xsplash shows the described behaviour.

I have a similar problem: after disabling auto-login, xsplash takes more than 15 seconds to disappear (needed about 3-4 seconds before). This issue does not affect new users on the system, only the user that used to autologin.

This most probably happens because it is not receiving all of the signals it expects to close the "curtain". That requires active support from a few key desktop components like the gnome-panel and nautilus (if memory serves me well).

Marking 'won't fix' because xsplash is being mostly dropped since Lucid.
