running ubuntu 13.04/kde 4.10 on my laptop (kernel 3.8/ ddx 2.21, ivybridge). kwin still tears at the top of the screen even with sna enabled and vsync on in kwin, but I assume thats just this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307965

So I tried disabling vsync in kwin and using the tearfree option which did remove all tearing, and seems to perform reasonably well for desktop usage and video playback (haven't tried anything else)
