Desktop effects not working

everything was working fine with ubuntu 9.10
but when I upgraded to 10.04 LTS no effects will enable

Now it says unknown...

Hi

Thanks for helping to make Ubuntu better. I'm moving this bug report to what I believe is the appropriate package. Ubuntu One is a set of Online Services for the Ubuntu Desktop, and doesn't interact with the desktop effects you are describing in any way.

this is not a compiz problem I didn't install it yet nor is it installed, this is just after a fresh 10.04 LTS install

ran it again and it says "no additional information collected"
