Binary package hint: xserver-
Hello my Fujitsu Stylistic 4110p worked till the 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu13.6 update was installed. Now xorg comes up with white color effects on a black screen. Black lines appear till the whole screen turns white. The system is reachable by ssh, so it ist running in the background.
The i915 do the same, so no driver is capable to produce a working screen. Some info an quirked loglines

The 4110p was basicly installed with 6.06 dapper and updated to hardy, everything was fine before the xserver-

For starters, it's not using the intel driver, but vesa. Can you try a livecd to see it's the upgrade that resulted in breaking it, rather than then new driver.
