Bug Description

I had to resort to using the lucid xorg custom ppa to get the system to boot so now at least it is generating error files and it allows me to accept "low graphics" mode I have an older Gateway mx6028 machine which I could get running using the lucid beta2 release but when I applied the full bulk updates I got the bad detection of graphics syndrome and the machine went dead.. no continuation in the boot process, etc,, It also seemed to muck up the MBR...anyhow since I'm new all I could do was go back and reinstall.. I finally applied all the beta 2 updates except anything to do with open gl and xorg gl.. I then applied them and the machine continued to operate but any backup made with remastersys would suffer from the detection problem,, So it seems that it is more of a detection issue than a driver issue. and for the life of me I don't get why the Live lucid install does not ship with the debug that I finally got with the experimental.
So i now have 10.04rc1 with all updates applied running it seems

1)So does anyone want error logs?? if so where & how (do I find them and send them)?
2) how do I set the video to be "low graphics" ? which seems pretty full 1024/768 hi color to me? so the boot sequence does not ask each time? Is there some other material I should read?
